Joan
She/her
Joan’s background and training are in education. She worked in the school system for ten years; after leaving the school setting, Joan worked primarily with children diagnosed with ASD, as a supervisor for ten families overseeing and supporting staff in homes. After two years of in-home supervisory work, Joan and her business partner formed Innovative Intervention Services. Roles Joan has taken on several roles within Innovative such as staff coordinator, supervisor, family liaison and, more recently, has moved into the role of Triple P consultant. Joan is a certified Triple P facilitator and delivers this program to Innovative families. Joan also continues to practice CranioSacral Therapy as a part-time therapist within her home. Outside of Innovative, Joan loves spending time with her large family whenever she can. Camping, traveling and listening to music. -
Koreen
She/her
Koreen is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. She completed her master’s degree at the University of Alberta and has 24 years of clinical experience. Koreen began her career working for Westview Community Health Services, responsible for 12 schools in the area. Once she had the first of her two daughters, she started a private practice. In 2004, she co-founded and directed Innovative Intervention Services. Koreen has developed a passion for working with children with oral motor challenges/ Apraxia of speech and providing care and attention to non-verbal children through augmentative and alternative technology. Koreen is also a member of a multi-disciplinary panel that advises in decision-making for the family support for children with disabilities program. (FSCD) Over the last three years, Koreen has discovered a passion for traveling to and building relationships directly with First Nations Communities. -
Michelle
She/her
Michelle Curtis is a Registered Occupational Therapist. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Alberta in 2003 and a Post Professional Masters Degree through Dalhousie University in 2010. Shea has been a practicing pediatric occupational therapist for the past 19 years. Michelle has always been passionate about working with children and their families. Early in her career, she worked in a school-based setting and acute care. Quickly she discovered that working in homes directly with families and children was her calling. She joined the Innovative Intervention Services team in 2004. In 2021, Michelle continued to be a practicing Occupational Therapist on the Innovative multidisciplinary team and transitioned onto the Director role of the company. Michelle is also a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Panel that advises decision-making for the Family Support for Children with Disabilities Program (FSCD). Michelle is an avid runner and enjoys a great round of golf. She loves spending time with her family, including her husband, a young son and two terrier puppies.

Laura
She/her
Laura Fedorak is an Occupational Therapist with Innovative Intervention Services. She completed a Bachelor of Science In Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University, followed by a Masters of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta. Laura has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist since 2013. She was initially working in schools before moving to the home setting. Laura’s approach to therapy is family-centered, understanding that each family has their own unique story and skills that can be included in goals and sessions. She believes that the best way for a child to develop and grow is through connection and compassion. As a mother of 4, she understands the beauty and difficulties of parenthood. -
Shannon
She/her
Shannon is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who started her career with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Winnipeg followed by a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alberta. Most recently, her love of learning led her to the University of Calgary where she graduated with a master’s degree in Education. She has many areas of expertise, including assessment and treatment for Apraxia /motor speech, language, social communication, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and literacy.Over the past 20 years, she has had the privilege of working in both clinics and schools serving children, adults, and their families. Since 2005, she has also supported families at home providing services through Family Services for Children with Disabilities. Shannon is excited to help you and your child find ways to communicate that will open opportunities for them to learn and to connect with others. You can expect her approach to building communication skills to be responsive, fun, functional, and play-based while taking into account your child's interests.
Shannon gives back to her community and profession by mentoring SLP students from the University of Alberta and SLP assistants from MacEwan. She currently serves on various committees for the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) and Speech and Audiology Canada (SAC-OAC).
She loves spending time outdoors and playing family board games with her husband, five children, dog, and two cats.

Andrea

Andrea will often be the very first Innovative face you see! Andrea is involved with the initial intake of families. She is celebrating her 14th year with the team. Andrea is responsible for monthly calendars and company newsletters that bridge Innovative team members to our families. Andrea’s commitment to Innovatives administration keeps our systems running smoothly. Andrea finds her work with Innovative incredibly rewarding. She feels pride when she can watch families and her team succeed. -

Miriam is a driving force within Innovative’s behind-the-scenes office management. Miriam works diligently to ensure all administration and documentation are up to date, setting the whole team up for success!

Alyssa
She/her
Alyssa is a Child and Family Coach working within homes to support Innovative families. Alyssa believes in the importance of meeting a child where they are currently at and celebrating their differences to provide the best support. Due to her background in Human Ecology, Alyssa appreciates the way different systems work together to make a whole. Alyssa loves being a part of a multi-disciplinary team where she shares similar values and can support families with these values in mind. -
Carly

Carly is a Child and Family Coach who works in homes to help families develop strategies to support their children. Carly believes that children are most successful when they feel safe and connected. Through her work in education, Carly has learned that the most meaningful learning occurs when children are provided with engaging and positive experiences. Outside of her work with Innovative, you will often find Carly in her garden or the mountains spending time with her friends and family. -
Collette
She/her
Collette graduated from the University of Alberta in 2015 and has a degree in Elementary Education, majoring in Special Education. She has been with Innovative Intervention Services since its inception in 2004. Collette has worn many hats over her time with Innovative. She has worked as a one-on-one family coach and SLPA (Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant), supervisor, and home trainer. More recently, she shifted into administration, working as a Triple P facilitator with Innovative families.
Collette believes in meeting a family where they are at with compassionate support. She strives to establish trust and empower parents to develop a more profound connection with their children through communication and play. She comes equipped with a toolbox of strategies to share with parents to help them gain confidence in meeting their children’s needs.
In addition to working with Innovative, Collette is a mother of two children and spends much of her spare time watching them play sports. When he isn’t working, you can find Collette camping, hiking and enjoying music festivals with friends and family! -
Dana
She/her
Dana is a Child and Family Coach who implements Intervention programming within homes. Dana believes that all children and families have unique needs; support should be created around those needs, not despite them. Dana’s behavioral background is centered around trauma and youth, bringing a unique trauma-informed skill set. In addition to coaching, Dana manages the social media and marketing within Innovative. She can merge her love for creativity and art by working within these two roles. -
Emma
My name is Emma. I have been researching, volunteering, and working in the field of play-based early intervention since 2018. I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Linguistics from the University of Alberta, where I studied courses on language acquisition and developmental psychology. Working with kids has taught me how to play and enjoy the little things in life. I love to make memories and incorporate new skills into fun games and activities as well as get to know the children and families I work with to create innovative solutions and experiences based on their interests and goals.

Jerrica

Jerrica is a Family and Child Development Coach who works closely with families to develop strategies to help children thrive in their everyday lives. Jerrica believes that every child has the potential to flourish and grow. She thinks that programming should be developed to support the child's unique needs. Jerrica has worked with children and adults with special needs for over seven years. She is passionate about inclusion and embracing difference. Jerrica loves spending time with her friends and family and three dogs. -
Linda
She/her
Linda is a Child and Family Coach who implements Intervention programming within the homes. Linda believes that every child has the right and ability to communicate with those around them. She supports the AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices with the children who cannot communicate verbally. Linda has a background in Linguistics and Speech Therapy. In addition to her coaching role, Linda also does some administrative work for Innovative. This is an excellent outlet for her love of organization. -
Megan

Megan is a Family and Child Development Coach who implements intervention programming within the homes. She has a background in Psychology and has worked with children in various settings for many years. Megan believes each child has unique needs and enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team that can support that child’s needs. Megan believes building a connection with a child makes for the best environment for learning. -
Sarah

Sarah is a Family and Child Development Coach with Innovative Interventions. She started with the company in early 2022. Recently graduated from the Early Learning and Child Care program in 2021 and the Special Needs Educational Assistant Program in 2022 from MacEwan University. Sarah believes that every child deserves a chance to reach their full potential while developing learning and personal skills. Early Intervention has been close to her heart when working with children in family-based programming. The involvement of families strengthens the child’s education and their ability to thrive in their communities. She enjoys camping, snowboarding, cuddling on the couch with her cat, and being with family in her free time. She loves to travel and hopes to do more soon. Sarah looks forward to working with families and witnessing all children's achievements! -

Seanna Hutchinson is a Family and Child Development Coach with Innovative Intervention Services. She believes that creating a fun environment for kids to learn and find learning strategies will work for the child and family. Seanna has been working with children in some capacity for seventeen years. Seanna believes with a passion that it reflects in those around you if you love what you do.
